Cedar Grove

“The best of both worlds”

Your backyard may have skyline views, but you’ll feel far removed from the city in serene Cedar Grove.  Nestled in the Watchung Mountains, it’s the perfect place for those who conquer the concrete jungle by day, but want to relax to the sounds of crickets at night. Repeatedly ranked one of New Jersey Monthly’s “Best Places to Live,” Cedar Grove offers a variety of homes at a wide range of prices.  From an 8-bedroom estate to a modest 3-bedroom ranch and even raw land where you can build your dream house, this suburban oasis has it all.

Surrounded by wildlife, Cedar Grove gives residents easy access to the great outdoors. Mills Reservation, a 157-acre nature preserve, attracts birdwatchers and hikers from all over the state. With seven trails totaling over six miles, Mills is the perfect place to clear your head away from the daily grind.  There’s also Hilltop Reservation, another hiking spot where kids compete in the annual Grasshopper Mountain Bike Race.  And in the summer months, you can dive into fun at the Cedar Grove community pool where swim lessons are free with your membership.

Cedar Grove’s town center is a two-block stretch where you can purchase everyday necessities and enjoy quick bites.  But for bigger shopping excursions and a larger selection of restaurants, residents must venture beyond town to find what they want.  Luckily, Montclair’s bustling business districts are a stone’s throw away and the Willowbrook Mall is a quick trip by car.  And it’s only a 15-minute drive to Clifton where Route 3 offers more boutiques, big box stores, and eateries than one could ever need.

Cedar Grove’s highly rated school district is small, with only two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, and boasts a beneficial 13:1 student-teacher ratio.  The district prides itself in an academically challenging curriculum that prepares students for the 21st Century world.  The high school has various athletic programs as well as on online student-run newspaper and a TV production club.

Just 12-miles from Midtown Manhattan, Cedar Grove offers NJ Transit Bus Service that takes commuters straight to Port Authority. Or if you prefer riding the rails, there are train stations in neighboring towns like Little Falls and Montclair.

So if you’re looking for a traditional suburb that’s close to the wild city AND to wildlife, Cedar Grove is the place for you. Who knows?  You may just be king of the suburban jungle!
